Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Barcode X (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the App.
1. Information We Process
The App uses your device camera only to scan barcodes and QR codes. Camera images are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. Scan results, generated codes, scan history, and photos that you choose to use in the App are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
If you choose to sign in with Google or purchase a subscription, we process the following information to provide account and subscription features:
- Google account information made available through Firebase Authentication, including your Firebase user ID, email address, and display name;
- device information used to manage the device limit for a subscription, including a hashed app installation identifier, device manufacturer, model, Android version, and device display name; and
- subscription and entitlement information, including product or plan ID, subscription status, expiry date, and a protected Google Play purchase token used to verify a purchase.
2. How We Use Information
We use this information only to:
- provide barcode and QR-code scanning and generation features;
- authenticate your Google account when you choose to sign in;
- verify and manage Google Play subscriptions, subscription benefits, and associated devices;
- allow you to view or remove devices linked to your account; and
- respond to support requests and protect the security of the App and its services.
3. Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your scan results or local photos for advertising, profiling, or tracking. We share information only with service providers needed to provide the features you choose to use:
- Google Firebase Authentication, for Google sign-in and account authentication;
- Google Play, for subscription purchase processing and purchase verification; and
- Cloudflare, which hosts our membership service and stores the account, device, and subscription information described above.
4. Permissions
The App requests camera access to scan codes and may request access to photos or media when you choose to scan an image, import an image, save a generated image, or export a result. You can deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings; some related features may then be unavailable.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Local scan history, generated codes, and photos remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. If you signed in, you can delete your account from the App's account settings. This deletes the account, membership, and device binding data held by our membership service and deletes the associated Firebase account. Deleting an account does not cancel an active Google Play subscription; subscriptions must be managed or canceled through Google Play.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above.
